ABOUT US

GlobeMed at the UW is a team of students from all disciplines at the University of Washington united behind the idea that health is a human right. We are part of a group of 56 student organizations that educate and train student advocates for global health equity. We build a movement of people who believe in health and justice for all.

Throughout the year, we create community building activities, educate ourselves about global health, advocate for global health issues, and support our partner through events on campus.

Our latest partner is MASS, based in Odisha India. MASS works with their local community to incentivize and develop socioeconomically feasible, culturally viable, and ecologically sustainable solutions to agriculture and community building.

EDUCATION

Each week, we challenge our members to think critically about the global health problems of today.  At GlobeMed, we view health holistically and believe that everything from the neighborhood you live in to the food you eat to the relationships you have affect your health and well-being.

GROW

GROW stands for Grass Roots On-Site Work. Each summer, a group of interns gets to travel to and work with our partner organization.  The interns are the foundation of our partnership.

COMMUNITY

We build a community that works together to promote global health equity.  We build this community through team-building exercises, quarterly retreats, and support each other throughout the school year.

FUNDRAISING

We raise funds to support our partner's projects. We have hosted a Benefit Gala, Benefit Concert, partnered with Sugar & Spoon, tabled merchandise on campus, and had a holiday giving drive. We have also been able to adapt to the 2020 pandemic by converting many of our fundraisers to a virtual format, continuing our support for MASS.
